Dr. Richard Tan
Practicing Medicine in Biloela since 1968 when he opened his own practice – this closed in 2011 when Biloela Medical Centre was opened, when he came on as Principal doctor. He was an local Icon to the town, very dedicated doctor, colleague, mentor & friend to many. Awarded an OAM in 2013 for his service to Medicine. He happily shared his knowledge supervising many nursing & Medical students over his years.
Delivered thousands of babies – including 3 or 4 generations of the same family.
Performed many skin procedures over the years – when patients would say the Anaesthetic hadn’t kicked in yet – he would say “I can’t feel a thing”. Nothing was every really too much trouble for Richard, we could always rely on him to go the extra mile to help the patients. Many people of Biloela called him their regular doctor, when they visited for their consult, they would then get an additional tale of fishing, horses or squab.
He was a valuable employee who will be greatly missed by all.
